UpTilt Film Fest champions the voices of women filmmakers and those who identify with womanhood, offering a dynamic platform to showcase their short films. Beyond screenings, UpTilt fosters growth through educational programs, networking opportunities, and scholarships designed to support and empower the next generation of creative talent.

UpTilt Film Fest a 501(c)(3) non-profit, 100%volunteer-based festival that encourages and celebrates diversity. We are the ONLY festival in North Carolina that showcases films made by women and gender nonconforming filmmakers who identify with womanhood from all over the world.

Our 3-day festival in Wilmington, NC showcases short format films of all genres from all over the world!  Films must be written and/or directed by women or gender-nonconforming individuals, who identify with womanhood OR 50% of the following positions must be women/gender-non-conforming: writer, director, cinematographer, editor.

UpTilt has showcased 251 short films from over 38 countries which were written

and/or directed by women or gender

nonconforming individuals.

THEATRICAL RELEASES UpTilt provides a platform for women filmmakers to share their stories and perspectives through their films.

SCHOLARSHIPS UpTilt provides financial scholarships to support women filmmakers in making their films.

INTERNSHIPS UpTilt provides internship opportunities for film studies students.

WORKSHOPS UpTilt hosts educational workshops for visiting filmmakers and encourages networking

FINANCIAL & COMMUNITY SUPPORT Producing a film comes with significant costs, and submitting to festivals can be financially demanding for filmmakers. At UpTilt, we support North Carolina residents by offering fee waivers for submissions. Moreover, we refund submission fees for all accepted entries and provide each filmmaker with a stipend as a token of appreciation for showcasing their film at our festival
